Do we live in divinity?

I would have called myself a cynical person. I found the world mundane, boring, and predictable.

Recently I have been reading a book on Zen Buddhism, practicing zazen, and attending San Francisco Zen Center sessions. Zen has opened my eyes to my massive ego. Mundane? Boring? Predictable? The universe is massive and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface with robots on Mars! I walk though the path in the park and claim to know the park, but I’ve only learned the path (and a fraction of that also)! Information is infinite both in width and depth yet I was deluded into thinking that I knew anything inside and out or could dismiss whole topics as pointless. It is hard for me now to not get choked up when thinking about how shallow I was and how rich existence is.

But what is existence? In the Shinto religion they see the universe as not being distinct from a spiritual realm (sorry if that’s not 100% I’m from the west). This place we live in... feels unreal to me now, yet real all the same. Does the universe look at all as we perceive it, or is it perceivable at all or are we limited to tiny glimpses clouded by frameworks within our minds? What is this MAGIC place we reside in?

I’m very happy to be here now.
