The student said, "I am quite frightened."

Xuefeng clucked his tongue and said, "It's an event in your own house; why are you afraid?"

That student then had an awakening too.

Mind is all,

all is mind,

I am you,

You are me,

A final before I hurry to “bed”:

Once Master Xuefeng Yicun asked a newly arrived monk, “Where are you from?”

The monk said, “From Spirit Light Monastery.”

Xuefeng said, “In the daytime we have sunlight, in the evening we have lamplight. What is ‘spirit light’?”

The monk didn’t answer.

Xuefeng said, “Sunlight, lamplight.”

Nightlight.
