Just read the 54'th case in the BCR by Cleary and a small share here:

YunMen ... extended both hands. (7)
Monk was speechless, so YunMen hit him again.
Notes of Yuanwu:
at first question of YunMen - "don't say Hsi Ch'an. A probing pole, a reed shade. Don't say east, west north or south."
OP - don't reply with Geo-location to a geo location question from YunMen ... he couldn't care less where the monk came from ... he was simply testing out the monk from the first moment he appeared.
Second note of Yuanwu to the reply (2) - "As it turns out, he's too literal. At that moment the monk should have given him some of his own provisions"
OP - Yuanwu cuts like through butter ... he's baby feeding us the style of a ZM exchange ... you get a question, you don't reply to it like a robot, like a senseless program who runs a script out of limited parameters or sheer unexplained fear or shame.
(3) - Yuanwu inserts a quoted Thought as coming from the Monk - "I want to bring it up, but i fear that it would startle you (YunMen), Teacher."
OP - this was simple and funny ... just skip the unnecessary words, thoughts, opinions and get straight to the essence of that meeting ... point being , monk was adept , Yunmen ZM, pretty sure Non of Them was there to small talk or exchange location facts. Even more so, Yunmen spots the "poor monk struggling" so he slaps him into now ...
OP -(4) a recoiled Now, brings upon memories, monk remembers to Raise Hands when he gets into trouble, another automatism not very tipic of human nature raised to the rank of Teachings
(5) - Yunmen does his best with what he's got ... that's a Slap and a Face in front that's still attached to a Person.
(6) - Person tries to salvage the Present with a faded out - I'm still talking (even if you slapped me , i can still use Speech mr ZM)
(7) - Yuanwu comments in his note - "Danger! The monk has been given an excellent mount, but he doesn't know how to ride it."
OP - A rare chance to comeback from ZM Yunmen , by rasing the hands in the same manner as the monk ... but silence instead as reply ... so he gets smacked again by Yunmen.
Going to sell some fake jewelry to the jewelry master and getting suprised that it's like talking about totally diferent crafts. No suprise there.
How many here would have slapped back Yunmen at the right time? How many would've turn away and leave after the first slap or even the second? How many would have laughed and stared telling jokes about YunMen to Yunmen? ... myriad of options , only one Now to play upon.
