Three Chan masters converge.

If you wish to understand, know that a sudden comprehension comes when the mind has been purged of all the clutter of conceptual and discriminatory thought-activity. Those who seek the truth by means of intellect and learning only get further and further away from it.

Excerpt taken from Huang po's talks in the book, "On the transmission of mind"

Huang po was an influential Chan (zen) master who lived in 8th century China.

If we find fault with others we ourselves are also in the wrong. When other people are in the wrong, we should ignore it, For it is wrong for us to find fault. By getting rid of the habit of fault-finding We cut off a source of defilement.

Excerpt from the platform sutra by Huineng. Huineng was the sixth Patriarch of Chan Buddhism during the 7th century.

The Perfect Way knows no difficulties except that it refuses to make preferences.

Only when freed from hate and love,It reveals itself fully and without disguise.

The first lines of the Faith in mind poem, by the third patriarch of Chan. Sengcan, 5th century China.

T. O. M's comment.

Three of my favourite Chan masters, who all came along during the earlier period in the development of Zen Buddhism. Which in my opinion is the best period of zen for clear and direct pointing towards the way.

They are all saying the same thing here.

I shouldn't overthink stuff, I don't need to discriminate where it's not needed, I shouldnt be judgmental of others or myself and my true nature will shine through unhindered..

Peace.
