The Real Shobogenzo: Zen Masters - Drunk on power

Dahui's Real Original, the First Shobogenzo, Vo. 2:

When Ju went to master Gongan Yuan’s place, Yuan asked, “What is a sanctuary?” Ju said, “Deep mountains hide a lone tiger; shallow grass reveals a bunch of snakes.”

Yuan said, “How about the person in the sanctuary?” Ju said, “Green pines cannot cover him; how can yellow leaves hide him?”

Yuan said, “What are you saying?” Ju said, “A youth thoroughly enjoys the moon in the sky; for a dotard, there’s no sun in the east.”

Yuan said, “How is it when the clouds open and the moon appears in one or two statements?” Ju said, “Shining through the Buddhas and patriarchs.”

.

(Welcome link) (ewkwho?) note: I was thinking the other day that Zen Masters preaching the dharma to the unenlightened are a great example of absolute power corrupting absolutely... just, you know, in enlightened people.

What the @##@ are your talking about old man?

Oh, look! It's shining through.
