The monk Hokai, on his first meeting with Huineng, asked : "" What is the meaning of the saying " The mind is Buddha"".
The Sixth Patriarch replied.
"For the preceeding thought not to be generated is mind, and for the succeeding thought not to be extinguished is the Buddha...... That which creates all characteristics is the mind, and that which transcends all the characteristics is the Buddha."
Hokai replied" I have understood what you have said, I thought that it was something to study. Now I see there is no difference between the Buddhas mind and my mind, and if I let go of the thinking, I see, hear, and feel just as the Buddha did. My preconceptions were coloring everything.."
" I thought the world was so difficult, now I see it is so simple: one thing to percieve and one thing to let go of"

What is this one thing to percieve?
What is the one thing to let go?
Peace.
