His Wikipedia page suggests much of his biography is in fact legend.. that he was more of a mystical thaumaturge.. yet he is “credited as the transmitter of Chan Buddhism to China, and regarded as its first Chinese patriarch.
I thought Zen rejected firstly “spiritual mumbo jumbo” as quoted by members of the sub, and secondly the insinuation of seated meditation as misled.. is my understanding wrong? Did Bodhidharma sit? Did he live to see 150 years? Where does his version of Chan differ from Japanese Zen?
Something gives. But something takes. He speaks of “two types of entrance”. In and out?
