Our mind should stand aloof from circumstances, and on no account should we allow them to influence the function of our mind. But it is a great mistake to suppress our mind from all thinking.

T. O. M's comment.
When I went to school in the 70s and 80s, the teachers would hit you, for being a prat. Then your parents would hit you after you got back from school, for getting into trouble.
Argument and name calling, fights in the playground and bullying were the norm.
By today's standards this is unacceptable, but we were conditioned by circumstances to be tough, resilient and hold our minds aloof from circumstances, whatever the bullies tried, we were always taught, that name calling cannot hurt you..
I today's snowflake world, even to say something inappropriate can get you cancelled from television, get you fired from your job.
Where is the aloof nature, that was instilled in us as children of a bygone era?
Why are people nowadays so offended by circumstances?
Peace.
