Cataracts in the Eye, Flowers in the Sky

When Master Furon Xun first called on Guizong, he asked, "What is Buddha?"

Guizong said, "I'll tell you, but will you believe?"

Xun said, "How dare I not believe your truthful words?"

Guizong said, "You are Buddha."

Xun asked how to preserve it. Guizong said, "One cataract in the eye, and flowers in the sky shower in a flurry."

At this Xun had insight.

Fayan said, "If not for the latter saying, where would you look for Guizong?"

Here we go again.

"You are Buddha." is a cataract in the eye of the unenlightened and the hunt to preserve the arising illusions isn't Zen. What about Fayan's qualification of Guizong?
