Just step back, stop mental machinations, and look closely. When suddenly you see, nothing can stop you.

When I step back, stop mental machinations and look closely, things are quiet and it seems like I am on the path.

However , if I look very closely indeed, there are still subtle machinations operating, in the "fog". (sorry but I had to steal the fog metaphor, you know who you are.)

Is foyan asking me to actually stop these machinations, or to come to the realisation they they simply cannot be stopped?

Is he pointing me in the direction of self, to make me look and see, that the self that goes on automatically, isn't really a self at all?
