I really get the impression here that a large amount of people participating do not in good faith actually discuss Zen.
The main example of course is Ewk and he is representative of the culture here.
Some recent examples are someone posting a quote, a teaching, a text, linking a YouTube video of heads of Chán schools in the modern era.
Instead of actually discussing some of this the actual response is to go on ridiculous personal attacks and rail up the wall saying this isn't Zen. Calling people frauds and trolls just for having an understanding and experience of Zen that doesn't totally subscribe to Ewks views.
Why is this the culture of the subreddit?
What's so wrong with discussing Zen?
Sure I understand if you don't like someone or a particular teacher or school bring it up and discuss it.
But saying "HE'S A SEX PREDATOR!" "HE'S A RELIGIOUS CULT MEMBER!" "YOU'RE NOT WOKE ON REAL ZEN LIKE ME SO GET WOKE OR GTFO POSER!"
these do not seem to be sincere, realistic, good faith approaches to discussing and practicing Zen here in this community.
I would sincerely encourage the moderation to do something about it but outside of that I encourage the community to come together and move past this kind of rhetoric and dialogue.
Perhaps instead of supporting and humoring these people we could deliberately block the individuals who are acting that way repeatedly, deliberately, and apparently in bad faith.
ThatKir and Ewk come to mind as individuals that are rampantly holding up and perpatrating the memes quoted above repeatedly.
I think we should raise the standard here and no longer give credence to people acting out of pure harrasment and creating a toxic environment where only people who agree with Ewks What Zen Masters teach belief system as being worthy of showing a monicker of respect and consideration.
Just my 2 cents.
