Thoughts on chigo/dōji, the little boys that medieval Zen monks would rape

I’m asking this question because this subreddit seems dedicated to orthodox practice and lineage. Is it not troubling that very many canonized monks were rapists? (Some argue it wasn’t rape because of cultural differences, but come on now)
