Buddha was a Zen Master, not a Buddhist. - ewk

This is the kind of content I come to the sub for! 😂 It's also the reason why, even with all of the ridiculous back and forth that happens with ewk, I usually see him as a positive addition to the sub. Seems to depend on the phase of the moon or something… lol

This is actually a really insightful statement! I basically agree with it as well. One of the cool things about Buddhism is that, at its heart, it's about transcending Buddhism. That being the case, Zen being the heart of Buddhism and Buddha being a Zen Master makes a lot of sense.

This also reminds me if ewk's definition of "special transmission outside scriptures"… maybe I'll save that for a separate post but it was good.

Question: Why do people choose to capitalize the M in Zen master? I see it done so often that you guys have me doing it now. lol Seems similar to president. Like Zen Master Ma vs Ma was a Zen master.
