Huineng: I haven't read because I can't read.
Another monk: How can you understand the inner truth? as you can't even read?
Huineng: I don't think there's a relationship between truth and character. Actually character is like our finger. Finger can point out where the moon is but we don't watch the moon with a finger.
Another monk got tears in his eyes.
