Case 39: Yunmen’s Every Day is a Good Day

Yunmen instructed his assembly, saying, “I am not asking you about it before the fifteenth day; but see if you can come up with something about it after the fifteenth day.” When the assembly did not respond, he himself answer for them: “Every day is a good day.”

Miaozong's Poem

Every day is a good day:

The Buddha’s law and the world’s law both complete.

There is no need to specially seek out the secret and mysterious;

All you need to worry about is that both basin and bowl are wet.
