My question was inspired by this video, which tries to explain the definition of religion from a western point of view.
Even if we conclude that zen doesn't fit in any of the definitions explained in the video, are we justified to say that zen is secular? What about other eastern philosophies, like Taoism or Confusianism? Can we clasify them as "religion"?
Lastly, can we ask the zen masters this questions and expect them to be objective? For example, some christian saints say that christianity isn't a religion. Can we listen to them?
