Repeat Question 1: Not Zen? Suppose a person denotes your lineage and your teacher as Buddhism unrelated to Zen, because there are several quotations from Zen patriarchs denouncing seated meditation. Would you be fine admitting that your lineage has moved away from Zen and if not, how would you respond?
I know I come from a poor family that has trouble cooking a good meal. What's there to dislike about the truth?

I read the Gateless Gate while working on a cruise ship. While looking out at the rough waves I stopped seeing Dragons and started seeing Whales.
Repeat Question 3: Dharma low tides? What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"? What do you do when it's like pulling teeth to read, bow, chant, or sit?
Just don't read, just don't chant, just don't sit. For every statement of "just do it" it comes down on the other side as "just don't do it." Remember Organic Soy isn't Vegan either! If someone else is asking me what do to in their house, then I'm more interested in why they don't think it's their house to begin with.
