~ Hsueh Feng's Grain of Rice ~
Hsueh Feng, teaching his community, said "Pick up the whole great earth in your fingers, and it's as big as a grain of rice. Throw it down before you: if, like a lacquer bucket, you don't understand, I'll beat the drum to call everyone to look."
Commentary: This old man pulls out a blank map for lost travelers and burns it. He leads them further astray - but from where exactly? He polishes his golden pearl for the crowd and reveals it to be a poisoned apple; the hungry man has no choice but to eat. After all, what can be done about his hunger? Better off putting this entire affair to rest and to go sit idly amidst the flowers.
