The Zen lineage is only repeating some material which came about after the Buddha and falsely claim that one following their tradition will reach the same state of awakening as the Buddha which is nothing but false advertising.
There is no actual evidence that anyone ' awakened ' in the tradition is actually awakened the same way Buddha was, still the claims of awakening and talk of Buddha is there.
