Where is my Mind?

The second patriarch asked Bodhidharma, "Can I hear about the Dharma seal of the Buddhas?" He said, "The Dharma seal of the Buddha is not gotten from another." The second patriarch said, "My mind is not yet at peace; please pacify my mind for me." He said, "Bring me your mind and I will pacify it for you." The second patriarch said, "Having looked for my mind, I cannot find it." Bodhidharma said, "I have pacified your mind for you." ~ treasury of the eye of true teaching #507

I heard an old song yesterday that made me think of old one-arm and his famously straightforward exchange with the B-man. Also on a bad day when I might repeatedly ask myself, "Where is my suffering?" It seems an obvious and stupid question. Who's asking?

The song has been earworming me ever since. May it similarly wriggle its way into your aural feedback loop today. Also, do you think the lyrics can be seen as a sandal-on-head upside down statement?

With your feet on the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
But there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself
Where is my mind?
