There is zen in everything we do

The ordinary mind, the bhudda, all sentient beings and wiggly worms possess this nature.

Seeking and attachment cloud our view. It is with the mind that you read this, not with the eyes.

Summon a great spirit of doubt and focus on nothing. When nothing is sought, and you cling to nothing, conceptual thought has no use anymore. Who needs to think when there’s nothing to think about?

Some say zen isn’t about not thinking. What attachment or need is there for thoughts? We think because it’s how we learned to live, but conceptual thinking is slow and trapped in delusion and duality.

But how do we live without thinking, isn’t it necessary for daily life? If someone throws you a ball, do you need to think to catch it? If there’s a meal in front of you, are thoughts needed to eat it? Some call it intuition, but it is the natural function of a mind not clouded with thoughts.

Intuition is understanding as quick as a lightning flash, like sparks struck from stone. It is only in the moment, not stuck in delusion of time. To understand three when one is raised, this is intuition. How could we ever think that thinking is important?

I’ve done a lot of thinking, and I think it’s time to stop, but don’t think what I’ve said here is true. Find out for yourself.
