Friday Night Poetry Slam

Week whatever

Last Summer

- - -

Lacing up my ALL-STARs, pacing ‘round my cipher
Patient as the gentle night, blinded by my lighter
It is moonless though I observe a second point of light
Far removed from heaven’s grasp with a turn of the sleight
I burn passions cast into flame with names of the wretched
Untrained to eternity and raised without lessons
They attain to the blood and they bleed out ashen
They live like the children of lesser gods and deafened
By the thunderclap, run it back, I’m in last summer
With my pumped up kicks, bump-stock, and the jocks' number
Penumbra, pen in my hand I’m pen-dragon
And Y’all state pen numbers don’t mean shit to my rappin
So kill me, motherfucker, these echoes drown you in dissonance
I discipline the poltergeist then disappear in providence
I prophesize, pop a six pack, passed to my people
Then we get gassed, blunts unto ash, circles of equals
We get gas money together, passenger shotgun
Naturally he holds the auxiliary ransom
Locked in the pillory, eyes like samson
We ghostride into the quietness of the anthem
