Dongshan's "Single Sentence"

The Master asked, "What sort of thing is the mind of the ancient buddhas?"

Hsing-P'ing said, "It is your very mind."

The Master said, "Although that's so, it's still a problem for me."

Hsing-P'ing said, "If that's the way it is, you should go ask a wooden man."

The Master said, "I have a single sentence with which to express it and I don't rely on the words of the sages."

Hsing-P'ing said, "Why don't you go ahead and say it?"

The Master said, "It's none of my affair."

Look at this guy. Brushing away buddhas and patriarchs like dust on an old robe. This wooden guy is an interesting little twist though -- any other cases with him?
