What's the connection between Vedanta and Zen?

Hello guys I'm a follower and practitioner of Advaita Vaidanta path. So I noticed that Zen teaches almost the same thing as Advaita does.

Advaita Vedanta draws on from the Upnishadas as source material. The Upnishadas were kind of conclusion of all 4 Vedas of ancient Vedic civilization. The western dates for vedas are given as 1500-2000 BCE. But I believe they are much older. Because in Hindu tradition, we believe that Krishna told this knowledge to Arjuna 5000 years ago.

So where does Zen philosophy emerge from? Why are these two philosophies so similar?
