Looking for some book (Kindle) recommendations for the "essence" of r/Zen

I'm about to pick up some Zen books on Kindle and thought I'd see if the fine folks on this sub had anything else to add.

I've seen Huangpo mentioned a lot so "The Zen Teachings of Huang Po: On The Transmission Of Mind" is on the list. "The Platform Sutra: The Zen Teaching of Hui-neng" seems like a no brainer as he's the "godfather" of Zen (it's also only $1.99 right now!) "Zen Teaching of Instantaneous Awakening: being the teaching of the Zen Master Hui Hai, known as the Great Pearl" seems obvious as he was the teacher for Huangbo and Linji . The "Hsin-Hsin Ming" by the Third Patriarch is also only $1.99 so I'm gonna grab that as well.

If anyone has anything else they think is "essential" let me know!

Recommendations so far:

  • The Records of Linji - No Kindle version
  • The Recorded Sayings of Zen Master Joshu - No Kindle version
  • The Mumonkon - I've read it before and have a copy, but not with me
  • The Blue Cliff Record - The Kindle prices don't make sense. I'll get a physical copy at some point
  • The Book of Serenity - The Kindle editions of Cleary's are cheap, but look like they might have garbage formatting. If the two below are OK, maybe I'll give them a shot.
  • The Treasury of the Eye of True Teaching Volume 1 & 2 (The original shobogenzo) - I'm gonna pick both of these up, they're cheap right now. :) (Part 1 | Part 2, translated by Cleary)
  • Master Ma's Ordinary Mind - Might grab it (Kindle edition link)

Edit: Done typing. :) Added recommendations.
