“There is no ‘thing’ you can understand outside of yourself. There is no ‘thing’ to understand within yourself.
There is nothing that is gained from understanding. You can gain all the knowledge you want, but understanding remains in the midst of it, unattached to such knowledge.
Thus, you cannot understand ‘this’ as something separate of understanding. If you have a reaction to these words—know them not to be understanding! Understand they can be only a reaction, as they are, just as these words HERE are only a reaction to a feeling of understanding.
Understanding exists entirely independently. It is constant. Even if we say, I do not understand, this in itself is understanding.
Do you see! It is simple. Don’t elaborate it. Don’t react. The reflection in the water is a reflection. It ripples when you drop a pebble in it. Truth.”
