People who study the path clearly know there is such a thing; why do they fail to get the message, and go on doubting? It is because their faith is not complete enough and their doubt is not deep enough. Only with depth and completeness, be it faith or doubt, is it really Zen; if you are incapable of introspection like this, you will eventually get lost in confusion and lose the thread, wearing out and stumbling halfway along the road. But if you can look into yourself, there is no one else.

Wandering Ronin commentary: Every day is a good day. In part, Zen requires that we focus and be aware of right where we are, right in this moment, but for some today will not be a new day... it will be yesterday. What a heavy burden they bear, dragging everything along into the next day like that! Furthermore, as Foyan teaches here, if you can look into yourself, there is no one else. I truly appreciate the attention, but for those that understand, there is no Ronin unless they allow for me to be. It's just ghosts fighting against ghosts in a hall of smoke and mirrors; don't they understand?
