Buddha Nature

Please forgive me, I am new to this. Buddhism itself is a new venture for me, but I can not help but to be drawn in by its wisdom.

I have recently seen comments and posts in relation to Buddha Nature and Atman. As my understanding is/was that Buddhism doesn't believe in a true self, I am intrigued.

Atman/Anatman is the single struggle I have. As those I have talked to say, to set it aside and in time I will see it was never there, I am finding that in truth it seems it is 'ever' there. Unimagined, unborn, Eternal.

Am I seeking a path that isn't there? Am I seeing an illusion?
