I'm a simpleton who had no knowledge of zen beyond the typical American perception that zen is about being calm and at peace. I was interested in the concept but being too busy to do much reading, I opted to join this sub and see what I could learn here and there.
So far, many if not all of the posts from r/zen that have made it to my feed are of an accusatory or demeaning nature. As someone inexperienced with the practice of zen, I find it rather surprising. The ego and personal opinion of people, vehemently pushing their point instead of accepting that others will believe as they choose, and the personal insults and demeaning comments, clash with my perception of zen.
So I wanted to ask, without accusing anyone of practicing incorrectly, but entirely out of a desire to understand: Is this in line with the principles of zen?
