This sub is a lot of fun to me. However, it seems to me that there are a lot of people going on around completely oblivious that they themselves are deluded in some ways. I have met a bunch of messiah's here, and I just wondered why there seem to be so much of what would be usually refferred to as "mental illness" going on around.
I believe that what is commonly called Great Doubt is a necessary evil, and that it is necessary to go through a phase of sickness to get rid of delusion, and going through this phase is unusual in western society.
That being said, just because a state of mind is unusual doesn't mean that it is Enlightenment. I think that it is a common mistake here. This sub first appeared as batshit insane to me, and you grow into it, but batshit insanity is not zen.
If you alienate everyone around you and you believe that it is because they do not "get it", you are missing the point.
I am a great fan of Jung, a psychoanalyst who took interest in Western men getting into Eastern philosophies, and this video was of great interest to me. It is about spiritual pride and inflation.
So, that's that. Just a little rant.
