The Universe is like Tea

Tea is considered a thing, but it is also many things. Tea is a homogenous mixture, or a solution of small compounds in water. But the composition of tea is uniform throughout, and for the sake of this analogy, can be considered one continuous substance.

I like to think of the universe this way. Perhaps from afar, the universe would appear as a nice hot cup of tea, one tasty liquid. But when viewed up close, through the eyes of a human being, it is perceived as being made of many different compounds such as buildings, trees, clouds, and stars. The observer forgets he is apart of the mixture and does not see himself as one of those compounds.

Human beings are also cups of tea. From afar, we look like one continuous object but when we look closely we are really a mini ecosystem of 70 trillion cells working symbiotically to create working organs. These organs then work with each other and keep each other alive. Together they make up a living, breathing, thinking organic machine, which is programmed subconsciously to behave a certain way.

We could also more accurately describe the compounds of this cosmic tea as being atoms. It’s interesting here to note just how much of a mixture humans really are. Studies at the Oak Ridge Atomic Research Center have revealed that about 98 percent of all the atoms in a human body are replaced every year. You get a new suit of skin every month and a new liver every six weeks. The lining of your stomach lasts only five days before it's replaced.

So what am I saying? You are literally one of the main ingredients of this refreshing beverage. It would not be tea without you because it is you. However you feel separated from the rest of it due to your identifying with the programs that play out in the fleshy quantum computer that is your body. In reality, there is no you. The only thing that could be considered you is the awareness that happens to be situated inside the theatre we call the brain.

Look outside, it is all one body. Look within, it is one mind. Let the walls dissolve between the two and watch what happens.
