Not Zen? (Repeat Question 1) Suppose a person denotes your lineage and your teacher as Buddhism unrelated to Zen, because there are several quotations from Zen patriarchs denouncing seated meditation. Would you be fine saying that your lineage has moved away from Zen and if not, how would you respond to being challenged concerning it?
-my study is all about the one vehicle, there is no “meditation” or “mind” and the hopes of it being denounced or not, ill leave that squabbling for the ones grasping at the other vehicles.
What's your text? (Repeat Question 2) What text, personal experience, quote from a master, or story from zen lore best reflects your understanding of the essence of zen?
Recorded sayings of zen master joshu; case 377 A monk asked “outside the teachings of the three vehicles, how do you teach people?” The master said, “since this world came into being, the sun and moon have never been replaced” - this comes back to the supreme vehicle, it is open and vast and always there, one thought about it and you fall into error... how will anyone proceed?
Dharma low tides? (Repeat Question 3) What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"? What do you do when it's like pulling teeth to read, bow, chant, sit, or post on r/zen?
- who’s feeling low and why? Pick yourself back up, no one else can.
