[JAETHRANDIR'S THOUGHTS]

What was before this?

Blinded eyes will never know.

Those with sight agree with fish:

To be present is like

Leaves drifting along river's flow.

To exist within the notions of time; past, present, and future, I think is folly. Not to get cliche (Narrator: He is), but the only moment of reality is this one. This is what you have. Reading these dumb words of mine and associated thoughts, feelings, and attitudes you may have towards them, is your current reality.

We love to spew our nonsense here. Bickering, arguing, and discussing all the same. To what end?

Obviously, saying one thing, reading and studying texts, is different than actually being. (Or even having actual understanding, for that matter)

You simply are. You were yesterday and tomorrow you will be. If the myriad things and their imprint on our thoughts dissolve, or rather our no-thinking dissolves the myriad things, then what remains of past, present, and future?

[TEXTS]

"The enlightened ones of past, present, and future, and all of their discourses, are all in your fundamental nature, inherently complete. You do not need to seek, but you must save yourself; no one can do it for you.” -Foyan's Instant Zen

"When he first got to Li Chou (in Hunan), he met an old woman selling fried cakes by the roadside; he put down his commentaries to buy some refreshment to lighten his mind. The old woman said, "What is that you're carrying?" Te Shan said, "Commentaries on the Diamond Cutter Scripture." The old woman said, "I have a question for you: if you can answer it I'll give you some fried cakes to refresh your mind; if you can't answer, you'll have to go somewhere else to buy." Te Shan said, "Just ask." The old woman said, "The Diamond Cutter Scripture says, 'Past mind can't be grasped, present mind can't be grasped, future mind can't be grasped': which mind does the learned monk desire to refresh?" Te Shan was speechless." -Blue Cliff Record: The Second Case

" The mind of the Bodhisattva is void, having abandoned all things. Past-mind not grasping is past renunciation; present-mind not grasping is present renunciation; futuremind not grasping is future renunciation." -The Dharma of Mind Transmission: Zen Teachings of Haung-Po

Did I waste your time?
