Why, so often is the moon used to symbolize enlightenment? ( Reflection of the moon in a bucket, "I wish I could give the burglar this full moon, koans are described as 'a finger pointed at the moon,' etc)
Many old Asian cultures used the moon to describe beauty. For instance, Siddhartha's wife was described as "as beautiful as a full moon on a cloudless night." In the Arabian Nights, many women are described to have a 'face like a full moon.' is there a relationship here?
Even if not, why the moon?
