Understanding; Not Understanding

When you don’t understand Zen, and are afraid or embarrassed to say it, that’s doubting yourself.

When you do understand Zen, and are afraid or embarrassed to say it, that’s also doubting yourself.

Linji, and Foyan both have said that students’ main problem is not trusting themselves or having faith in themselves.

Admitting of your understanding or lack thereof is having faith in yourself.

Demonstrate your faith in yourself right now!

You know the AMA!?

That’s the opportunity to show your faith, avoiding it demonstrates your doubt.

Step up and ask your questions; step up and demonstrate your mastery; or step up and give us your secret teaching.

Otherwise sit down and shut your mouth for a little while.

Let the combat begin.
