Zen and Evil

For a year and a half, I lived at Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, under the watch of Jakusho Kwong-roshi. I developed some understanding and started a life-long journey, and have no doubt, penetrated something real. I had a lot of respect for him, and enjoyed meeting with him and having lunch together.

To start, I was insane, and totally unable to handle the reality of what was going on around me. The teachers there knew that, but they went along with it anyway. It ended in disaster. I was kicked out after realizing I was in imminent danger of my own life ending, and totally lost it, because of the misinstructions given to me the abiding monks. For three months, I laid on the floor pleeding to kill myself, incurring serious trauma.

I guess my question is, Zen doesn't really have notions of evil or good, but I've seen Buddhas and Bodhisattvas commit grievous sins, walk away from it like nothing happened, and continuously harass and patronize people. Real living Zen Practioners. I think they feel justified in what they did, but I think any sane person would disagree completely. Is there a clause I'm missing that lets people get away with erroneous and dangerous practices in the name of some sort of 'Zen?'
