Huángbò Xīyùn: Observe things as they are and don’t pay attention to other people.

Observe things as they are and don’t pay attention to other people. There are some people just like mad dogs barking at everything that moves, even barking when the wind stirs among the grass and leaves.

Huangbo Xiyun [died 850, China], Ch'an, Lineage: Hung-chou school

Huángbò Xīyùn (simplified Chinese: 黄檗希运; traditional Chinese: 黄檗希運; Wade–Giles: Huang-po Hsi-yün; literally: "Xiyun of Mt. Huangbo", Japanese: Ōbaku Kiun) (died 850) was an influential Chinese master of Zen Buddhism during the Tang Dynasty.

Huángbò was a disciple of Baizhang Huaihai (720-840), and the teacher of Linji Yixuan (died 866) (Wade–Giles: Lin-chi I-hsüan; Japanese: Rinzai Gigen).

Wandering Ronin commentary: I'm learning the benefits of teachings like this the more I deal with the community here over time. I'm slowly but surely settling down naturally, observing things here more and learning when it is better just to remain quiet and observant.
