Hey guys. I'm AMA'ing again. I'm on mobile at work so some replies will be slow or pushed off until this evening. If you'll forgive me I won't be answering the default AMA questions unless one of you specifically want me to. But here are a couple of intro statements:
-
I do meditate, but not for enlightenment.
-
I'm a solo, half-assed student going only by the books I'm casually reading, my own insights on life, and conversations with you lovely people, with no Zen centers or formal teachers or such.
-
You might call me "liberal" Zen insomuch that I think people were becoming enlightened before Zen and still can outside of Zen. I don't think I can discredit Shunryu Suzuki for example because he's probably more of a man of Zen than I'll ever be.
-
I do have a perennialistic view of enlightenment and I think mystics and contemplatives from other places and time periods have locked eyes with Joshu.
-
This is all my current understanding and is as subject to change as everything else in the world is, and I hope you'll all be patient with my blunders. I respect a great number of you.
