When some quote masters, it's to 'support' whatever the person is pointing at. But there are many masters, and people can quote the same masters or different masters to support whatever one is saying. So someone can quote a master saying 'the principle is this', 'the essence is this', 'to attain...' and then someone can quote 'don't establish a principle of...', 'there is nothing to attain' 'no understanding, no non-understanding', etc.
When reading them, it comes off as paradoxical. Words can be lost in translation or the context can be drawn in different ways.
