Sōtō vs Rinzai

Looking at Wikipedia Sōtō has an emphasis on meditation (without koans), whereas Rinzai has a focus on meditation with koans, and physical work done with mindfulness.

As a person who suffers from PTSD I am a big fan of mindfulness.

And I love koans!

I will more than likely read books on both of these sects (and others). But for now I'm curious on r/zens interpretation on the differences between these two.

Differences in rituals and practices, focus, ideology, acceptance or rejection of traditional Buddhist practices... Just whatever you can throw at me really.
