Where To Start With Zen? (Dallas/Fort Worth Area)

Hello everyone. Quick bio about me: I am "religious" in the sense I've studied many different religions. But this study takes the form of sitting alone reading and listening to lectures and I've come to conclude that won't get me what I've been searching for. After some thought I concluded Zen might be a good way for me to come out of my shell.

Problem is, Buddhism is as diverse as any other religion in the world. Countless sects and teachings. Zen might be only one branch of Buddhism but it's also split into myriad little branches. There's also the really "watered down" American variety I've heard about and I don't want any of that.

So, does anybody here live in Dallas or Fort Worth Texas in the United States? Or, at least have you heard of Sanbo Kyodan? It is the nearest Zen center I could find.

Somebody elsewhere recommended me try and get to Austin this February as a renowned Zen master named Shohaku Okumura Roshi will be there but I don't have the money. I can't even drive to get there(I'm disabled, legally blind). So while he was said to be one of the best in the world and, and his teaching sessions sound right up my alley with their study of spiritual texts, it's just not practical. That makes me sad but not much I can do.

I'm just grateful for any advice people here can give me. Thank you very much.
