Dongshan steps into the Zen v. Buddhism controversy

Record of Tung-shan:

A hut-dwelling monk, who was not well would say to all the monks he saw, "Save me, save me."

Many monks spoke to him, but none of their solutions satisfied him. When [Dongshan] went to call on him, the hut-dweller called out, "Save me."

[Dongshan] asked, "What sort of salvation do you want?"

.

ewk book note index - Buddhists-pretending-Zen, trolls, and true believers come into this forum, and afraid to quote Zen Masters, they cry and yell and complain, begging to be saved. It's not just a matter of who can save them, it's a question of what salvation do they want?
