Zen Echoes: Miaozong quotes the sutras

From Zen Echoes, a new translation of Miaozong with some additional unrelated poems by some Buddhist chicks. It's marketed as "first female Zen Master and other female Zen Masters!" but that's not true. Guishan had a cow hundreds of years earlier.

Case 5

The Surangama Sutra says, "You should know that your mind, which emerges from the empty void, is like a lone cloud dotting the clear expanse of sky. How much more so is this true of all the many worlds within that empty void? Should even a single one of you realize the truth and return to the source, then the emptiness of the ten directions will be completely obliterated."

Miaozong:

When one person discovers the truth and returns to the source

The great emptiness of the ten directions is completely obliterated

May I ask about "Yangqi's prickly chestnut"

How is it like "Yunmen's sesame flatcakes".

ewk book note index - It's a family tradition to gossip about the family. If you don't object to it, look what happens...
