Zen Echoes is a new translation of a hitherto untranslated text by Miaozong (1095-1170) with additional verses by what appears to be two Buddhists nuns five hundred years later. While their contribution is of little relevance, to have student of Dahui's hanging around, isn't that interesting?
Case: The World Honored One Ascends the Seat
Attention! One day the World-Honored One ascended the platform and took his seat. Manjushri struck the sounding post and said: “When you realize the Dharma-King’s Dharma, the Dharma-King’s Dharma is just as is.” At that, the World-Honored One descended from the platform.
Verse by Miazong:
The true teaching has been transmitted in its entirety;
No method, worldly or sacred, has been kept hidden.
The prison gates shatter into a hundred bits and pieces:
The brilliance of flinty spark and lighting flash.
