"Zen" being a Japanese word, and describing the Japanese traditions of Dogen, Hakuin, etc., and "Chan" being a Chinese term preceding Japanese "Zen" by centuries...
What are the main differences between Zen and Chan? Is Chan a tradition that rejects the Japanese developments of Dogen, etc.? Are they friendly cousins? Are they just the same word translated into different languages?
