Thich Nhat Hanh - The Zen Master

(Have I discovered the art of clickbaiting?)

I just saw the trailer to Walk With Me, which is a documentary with Thich Nhat Hanh, where he is introduced as zen master. And then the following lines caught my attention:

You aspire to see the truth, but once you have seen it, you cannot avoid suffering. Otherwise you have seen nothing at all.

What is this about? Is this what is teached by zen masters or even buddhists?

Also what about his lineage? On the English wiki they say it's Thien/Linji. On the german wiki is a note that Charles Prebish (The Faces of Buddhism in America. Berkeley 1998. p. 309) says Thich Nhat Hanh was no zen master in Vietnam.
