From the Zen Teachings of Huang Bo, pg 33:
This Mind is no mind of conceptual thought and it is completely detached from form. So Buddhas and sentient beings do not differ at all. If you can only rid yourselves of conceptual thought, you will have accomplished everything.
This sits with me every day. But how does this work with a life in our world? In order to eat food, I must work, and earn a living. My work involves taking concepts and bringing them to animation through various strokes of keys and mice. I put these words into practice whenever possible, but to me an impossibility becomes apparent in that the action being taken, it is not all pervading. Heaven recedes and throws me back.
Huang bo goes on:
But if you students of the Way do not rid yourselves of conceptual thought in a flash, even though you strive for aeon after aeon, you will never accomplish it.
instantaneous transformation of mind with Mind. it seems to be the way, as I (likely erroneously) understand it. If little by little is not the way, where to go to find the entry point?
Therefore it is written that 'the true Dharmakaya resembles a void'. Seek for naught besides this, else your search must end in sorrow.
Entering a void feels like bashing your head against a brick wall. I desire guidance, but where to find it? Seeking guidance is not seeking a void. It would seem that seeking guidance would end in sorrow. So here we are.. Here I am... But am I even?
*this is something that has been on my mind for some time. I don't know how to really put it into words. I am truly grateful to have this community to discuss these things with. *
