I am a layperson, I do not consider myself a serious enough student to know what is or is not zen. Yet I wonder what this forum thinks about the question.
It seems to me that there is an inherent misstep in participating actively in a forum like this for a student of zen. I see all the playful banter, the esoteric references, the comment sections that engage in reddit style self-referencing and production of in-jokes and meta discourse as a form of attachment or at least have nothing to do with zen. Can anyone who engages so actively with this forum (or any forum for that matter) be practicing effectively?
