Questioning Huangpo [Long]

All Buddhas and all ordinary beings are nothing but the one mind. This mind is beginningless and endless, unborn and indestructible. It has no color or shape, neither exists nor doesn’t exist, isn’t old or new, long or short, large or small, since it transcends all measures, limits, names, and comparisons. It is what you see in front of you.

The "One Mind" is what we today call "Reality"?

Start to think about it and immediately you are mistaken. It is like the boundless void, which can’t be fathomed or measured.

Thinking about reality is a mistake?

Reality can't be fathomed or measured?

How can Huangpo even talk about something that can't be thought of or measured?

People are scared to empty their minds fearing that they will be engulfed by the void. What they don’t realize is that their own mind is the void.

So there is the "One Mind" aka "Reality" and there are individual minds, else how could people be scared to empty that which they don't have?

Scared to be engulfed by the "void"?

Is it the "void" or as you said earlier, "like the void"?

Wait. My own mind is the "void"?

So how can you say, "The 'One Mind' and my "own mind"?

And I thought you said, that the "One Mind" is like the void; now you are saying it is the void...

Do you tell people that they are mistaken when they start to think about it because you can't really explain what you're talking about?

Because, again, how is it that you can talk about that which can't be fathomed, reasoned about or measured?

The Buddha and all sentient beings are nothing but expressions of the one mind. There is nothing else.

My own mind, and everyone else's minds are expressions of the "One Mind"?

It seems that any or all of my questions couldn't possibly be answered by Huangpo, since he has already expressed that thinking about "one mind" aka "reality" is mistaken.

So what's left?

Faith?

Without realizing what you're talking about, I don't think there is another option.

But that leaves the question: Realize what exactly?
