When Linji left Huangbo, Huangbo asked "Where are you going?"

Linji said, "If not south of the river, then north of the river/"

Huangbo tried to hit him, but Linji caught and held his staff, then gave him a slap. Huangbo laughed and called an attendants, "Bring my late teacher's meditation brace and whisk."

Linji called the attendant, "Bring fire."

Huangbo said, "Just take them and go -- later on you'll cut off the tongues of everyone on earth."

I don't have a whole lot to say about this one, except that I thought it was funny and figured you might too.
